Personal Injury cases can include car accidents, slip or trip and fall, and other personal injuries. Simply enduring the injury and healing from it should be enough for any individual without having to worry about the other party’s insurance company. We can handle that for you so that you can focus on healing.

All injuries are unfortunate. Yet, a personal injury becomes the basis for a legal case when it was caused by the negligence of another party. It also helps when the scenario in which the injury occurred demands that the other party have insurance. Hence car accidents are the most common, but other cases can include situations such as slipping or falling on property that is intended for the public, dog bites and other cases.

Do you have to have a physical, visible injury to have a personal injury case? Absolutely not!

Estate planning is the process of making sure all your affairs are in order before the untimely event of your passing.

Would you like to have a say on what happens to your estate after you die? Without an estate plan your estate falls under probrate, which means the state government will use a general process to divide your estate among your heirs (if you have a next of kin).

The main elements of an estate plan are wills and trusts, although you may want to include other documents such as a medical power of attorney. A trust is an entity that you transfer property to before your passing, which still allows you to maintain control of the property.  A trust can help your estate avoid the expensive process of probate. A will describes how you want your assets distributed.

Is there certain threshold that the value of your assets should reach before consulting an attorney about your estate? Can you just make your own will? Learn more about estate planning.

There are plenty of areas of practice that most if not all attorneys are capable of performing, and we’d hope that simply stating the areas of DUI/Criminal Law, Personal Injury, and Estate Planning would not sway individuals from contacting us for other legal needs.

A couple good examples are contract review or business formation. Contracts are essential for many areas of law including the areas we cover, and forming a legal entity is clearly something we can do since we’ve established our own firm and even created other types of organizations, such as non-profits.

If you come to us with legal issues that are outside the other areas of practice that we’ve already mentioned and we can’t competently represent you, then we will say so every time. But if we can competently represent you we could easily save you money and you’d still benefit from the personalized service that is offered by Civitas, as we treat you like a person and not like a number.

For the areas of law which we don’t feel we can competently cover, we have colleagues throughout the State of Arizona whom we trust, who have similar philosophies of service and to whom we’d gladly refer you. At the very least it’s worth talking to us first for any legal issue if only to know that the lawyer you end up with comes highly recommended.
